Expression
  • Soft babbling begins, with variety in tone
  • Babbles to self or others
  • Starts to engage in vocal back and forth
  • Lots of coos and laughs
Understanding:
  • Recognizes and anticipates food when he/she sees a breast, bottle, spoon
  • Begins to be familiar with commonly used words
Social Interaction:
  • Pays more attention to spoken words and begins to imitate some sounds
  • Turns head in response to his/her name
  • Responds with a sound when spoken to
  • Tries to get attention by ways other than crying, such as a firm voice or a stare
  • Looks closely at someone speaking
